The iconic Stowe gondola was installed in late 1968. The line reportedly brought skiers uphill 50% faster than previous chairlifts, and helped protect passengers from wind during the 6,650' journey. The original gondola was eventually replaced around the 90-91 season but found a new home in Lutsen Mountains, MN where it was in use until 2015.
